Conference - Migrants and the Making of Indian Ocean Cultures

Wednesday 11th July 2007

The conference will run from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, Room G50, Ground Floor, SOAS

Cross-cultural Outcomes from the dispersal and movement of peoples and cultures within the Indian Ocean will be the main theme of this Conference. Given the focus on transatlantic slavery in 2007, the organisers have decided to bring to the fore, the eastwards migration of Africans and also the multidirectional movement of other ethnic groups in the Indian Ocean.
