Lecture - Ethiopia and the Psalms: Unique Among the Leaders

Dr Ian Christie-Miller

Monday 6th October 2014

6:30pm, The Warburg Institute, Woburn Square, London WC1H 0AB - Public lecture (all welcome)

The first book printed in Ge'ez was the 1513 Psalter by Potken, Rome. This presentation will consider the results of the recent digitization of the King's College London copy of the Psalter using the latest available techniques - front lighting, back lighting and infra red. The lecture will include direct comparison with the Lambeth Palace copy. More widely, evidence will be presented from very diverse cultures (German, British, North American, Béarnese and Lithuanian) which also included the Psalms in their first imprints.
