Lecture - The Massacre of Debre Libanos, Ethiopia, 1937

Ian Campbell

Thursday 3rd March 2016

7:00pm, Room B102 Brunei Gallery, SOAS, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG - Public lecture (all welcome)

Ian Campbell, a development consultant specialising in East Africa, has been working principally in Ethiopia since he arrived in Addis Ababa in 1988, and has studied and published on many aspects of Ethiopian cultural history.

This event will be a launch of Ian's recent books on the Italian Occupation: The Plot to Kill Graziani, and The Massacre of Debre Libanos.

Ian will explain how and why he conducted the research over a 20-year period that has led to these two books, which address important but previously undocumented episodes of the Occupation. He will also present his principal findings, which reveal much previously unpublished evidence.

Both published by Addis Ababa University Press, these books are unfortunately not available in the UK, so Ian will be bringing copies with him to provide an opportunity for interested attendees to acquire them at a special price.

Capacity at the venue is limited, so please reserve your place soon to avoid disappointment.
