Lecture - BBC Services for Ethiopia

Solomon Mugera

Tuesday 22nd January 2019

7:00pm, Room B103, Brunei Building, SOAS, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG - Public lecture (all welcome)

Last year the BBC launched three new language services, designed for Ethiopia. Staff are based in London and Nairobi, where they compile and broadcast daily programmes in Tigrinya, Amharic and Afaan Oromo for Ethiopian audiences, both at home and abroad.

The project was launched at a turbulant and exciting time in the region, and the head of service, Solomon Mugera, will talk to us about getting the new services on air, and about how they research, compile and broadcast their programmes.

Capacity at the venue is limited, so please reserve your place soon to avoid disappointment.
