2009 marks not only the 300th birthday of Johnson, but also the 250th anniversary of the publication of his only novel, The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abessinia.

The evening begins at 6pm at the Samuel Johnson Museum with a celebration of Rasselas and its creation, followed at 8pm at the Lichfield Guildhall by Ethiopia, Land of the Rasselas, an illustrated talk by Jean & John Broadbent.
