Conference - International Medieval Congress - Medieval Ethiopia Day

The 2017 International Medieval Congress will be held at the University of Leeds, Leeds LS2 9JT, from 3 to 6 July.

On 4 July 12 short papers (in 4 panels) will be devoted to Medieval Ethiopia:

I: Religious Plurality in Medieval Ethiopia (including Magic in the Medieval Ethiopian Christian Kingdom and Medieval Beta Israel Monasticism);

II: Gospel Books and Chronicles (including Paintings and Their European Models);

III: History, Archeology, and the Mythical Prester John (including a comparison of Fra Mauro's Depiction of Medieval Ethiopia to Sites Discovered via Satellite Archaeology);

IV: Art, Religion, and Apocalypse (including The Miniature of Christ's Entry into Jerusalem in Medieval Ethiopian Illuminated Manuscripts).

Booking for just the one day is possible for those not wanting to attend the full congress. The registration deadline is Saturday 13 May. Further information, together with full schedules, can be found on the International Medieval Congress website.
