One of The Guardian's most distinguished writers talks to bestselling memoirist Cathy Rentzenbrink about The Wife's Tale, her phenomenal memoir of her 95 year old Ethiopian grandmother and her inspiring struggle to survive and protect her family.

The book also tells the story of modern Ethiopia — a nation that would undergo a tumultuous transformation from feudalism to monarchy to Marxist revolution to democracy, over the course of one century.
