In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, there are adoption agencies everywhere as western couples look to adopt local children. However, the fact that a child’s well-being isn't always top priority becomes painfully clear in Mercy Mercy, a film about Masho and her little brother Roba. Their sick parents gave them up for adoption, hoping they would have a better life. They moved to Denmark with new parents, but are they better off? For four years, director Katrine Kjær followed both sets of parents to make this thought-provoking documentary.

Country: Denmark
Year: 2012
