The Ethiopian Heritage Promotion Association in the United Kingdom

Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world, which is also endowed with a rich and diverse cultural and historical heritage. With a long history stretching back thousands of years, it has been part of the ancient world whose past, nevertheless, is the least explored and known from among such similar societies. Despite such rich background, the country’s heritage has not been properly and scientifically researched, conserved and promoted to benefit its people and the wider human family.

Thus, the Ethiopian Heritage Promotion Association in the United Kingdom (EHPAUK) has been formed with ultimate goal of gathering and conserving properly the Ethiopian heritage that has been taken out of the country, and passing the collections to the next generation safely. It also aims to display the collections for show and thus by to strength sentimental attachments between Ethiopia and its foreign admirers.

The establishing objectives of EHPAUK are:
• Advancing the education of the public in all maters relating to the language, culture and religion of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Diaspora in Britain thereby promoting good race relations;
• Preserving such heritage consisting of relics, artefacts and various other collections and put them on display through a range of methods including temporary exhibitions, presentation at cultural events & venues and permanent shows in a museum or gallery;
• Recording, documenting and preserving the lives and experiences of Ethiopians in the UK through photographs, audio-visual and other multi media means thereby contributing towards the multicultural goals of the host society.
