TV Programme - Tribe - The Nyangatom of the Omo Valley

BBC2, 9:00 to 10:00pm

Sunday 16th July 2006

In the first series of Tribe (www.bbc.co.uk/tribe) shown in 2005, Bruce Parry, ex-marine and expedition leader, spent a month living with some of the least-visited tribes on the planet, including the Suri from Ethiopia.

Parry is now back for three programmes in a new series of Tribe, this time each programme featuring a different tribe in Ethiopia’s Omo Valley. This area is currently experiencing one of the worst droughts in known history - Lake Turkana, the lake that feeds the Omo River, is receding at an alarming rate. All the tribes in the region are competing for the dwindling supplies of grazing land and water.
