Lecture - Ethiopia 50 Years Ago

John Bulmer

Wednesday 8th March 2017

7:00pm, Room B102, Brunei Building, SOAS, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG - Public lecture (all welcome)

John Bulmer is a photographer and film maker. He went to Ethiopia five times in the 1960s mainly for the Sunday Times Magazine. In this talk he will be showing photos from this time period.

He had started his career in 1960 after being sent down from Cambridge after he sold a story of the Night Climbers of Cambridge to Life Magazine.

John had a picture on the cover of the very first issue of the Sunday Times Colour Magazine as it was then called and went on to travel all over the world for them.

By the mid 1970s John moved into documentary film making and made many ethnographic and travel films in untouched parts of the world including far western Ethiopia.

Capacity at the venue is limited, so please reserve your place soon to avoid disappointment.
